Ooni sells an accessory for every problem its ovens have. Some are the best version of that tool you can buy. Some are a $17 generic with a logo. Here is the honest split, for every Koda, Karu, and Volt owner.

Four Ooni accessories are worth paying the brand price for: the 12 inch perforated peel, the 7 inch turning peel, the oven cover sized to your model, and the wire brush. They are either genuinely better than the generic version or they are the only thing that fits. Two are fine but replaceable: the grill gloves (any 932°F pair does the job) and the infrared thermometer (a $17 Etekcity reads the same stone). The modular table is excellent and expensive; buy it if you want the oven to live outside on a stand that matches, and look at our table ranking if you just need a surface.
The logic is simple. An accessory is worth the Ooni premium when the oven's geometry dictates the design, because a 12 inch Koda door, a Karu chimney, or a Koda 16 footprint is a spec only Ooni is building to. It is not worth the premium when the tool is generic physics: heat gloves, a laser thermometer, a cordierite stone. Pay for fit; do not pay for the logo.
Disclosures: Ooni did not pay for placement and did not know this was being written. The short version
- Buy: the Ooni 12 in perforated peel (~$60), the 7 in turning peel (~$65), the cover for your model, and the wire brush (~$35). Fit and design justify each.
- Fine but replaceable: Ooni grill gloves (~$35) and the Ooni infrared thermometer (~$65). A 932°F generic pair and a $17 Etekcity do the same jobs.
- Tables: the medium modular table (~$275) is the best-looking stand for a Koda or Karu. Our pizza oven table ranking has it alongside cheaper options.
- Covers: the large cover fits a Koda 16 or Karu 16 on the modular table; the Karu 2 and Karu 12 carry cover is the one for the small multi-fuel ovens. Buy the one sized to your oven.
- Skip for now: anything that duplicates what came in the box. Every Ooni ships with its stone.

01 · Buy: The Launch Peel
Our Pick
Ooni 12 in Perforated Pizza Peel
Sized to the 12 inch door, perforated to shed flour, and the peel most Ooni owners end up with.
On the bench: 12 inch perforated aluminum launch peel from Ooni's listing, the top pick in our brand-agnostic peel ranking.
Fit-dictated, and the best peel we rank regardless of brand. The Ooni 12 inch perforated peel tops our peel ranking on its own merits: the perforations leave the semolina on the peel instead of on the stone, where it would smoke and bitter the base, and the blade is thin enough to slide under dough without a fight.
Generic perforated peels exist for less. None we have verified combine the thin edge, the handle length, and the exact door fit, which is why this one keeps its place.
- Size
- 12 in
- Material
- Perforated aluminum
- Fits
- All 12 in Ooni ovens; 16 in for 12 in pies
- Price
- ~$60
What we like
- Perforations keep flour off the stone
- Cut to the Ooni door
- Tops our brand-agnostic peel ranking
Worth noting
- Premium over generic aluminum
- Handle is short for a 16 in chamber
Who should buy it: Every Ooni owner whose oven did not include a peel, and anyone launching 12 inch pies.
What we don't like: Twice the price of a plain aluminum peel. Short handle for a 16 inch oven's deeper chamber.
Bottom line: The 12 inch perforated peel is the Ooni accessory to buy first if your oven did not come with one. It is cut to slide through a Koda 12 or Karu 12 door with clearance, the perforations drop excess flour before it burns on the stone, and the tapered edge gets under a stretched dough cleanly. Koda 16 and Karu 16 owners can use it for 12 inch pies or step up to Ooni's 14 inch.
02 · Buy: The Turning Peel

Ooni 7 in Turning Peel
The small round peel that makes a 60 second bake possible; the accessory owners most regret skipping.
On the bench: 7 inch perforated aluminum turning peel with a long handle, from Ooni's listing.
Not optional past the first pizza. The Ooni turning peel is a small round head on a long handle. Slide it under the pizza, lift, quarter-turn, set down. Three or four of those in a 60 to 90 second bake and every side faces the flame for the same time. Without it, the side nearest the burner chars while the far side stays pale.
It is the second accessory to buy, right after a launch peel, and before anything else on this page.
- Head
- 7 in round, perforated
- Handle
- Long
- Fits
- All Ooni ovens
- Price
- ~$65
What we like
- Makes even 60-second bakes possible
- Proportioned to Ooni chambers
- Durable build
Worth noting
- Good generics cost less
- Handle heats if left in the mouth
Who should buy it: Every Ooni owner who bakes at 800°F and up. Volt 2 owners can manage without it at 850°F but will still prefer it.
What we don't like: Price versus good generics. Easy to leave in the oven mouth and heat the handle.
Bottom line: A 900°F Ooni cooks one side of the pizza in 20 seconds. The turning peel is how you rotate it without pulling the whole pie out on the launch peel and losing the heat. The 7 inch round head slides under any part of the pizza, the long handle keeps your hand out of the flame, and it is the tool that separates a leoparded crust from one burnt side. Owners who skip it learn why within a week.
03 · Buy: Koda 16 / Karu 16 Cover

Ooni Cover for Pizza Oven and Table, Large
The all-weather cover that drops over a Koda 16 or Karu 16 on the modular table in one piece.
On the bench: Large weatherproof cover sized for an Ooni 16 inch oven on the modular table, from Ooni's listing.
Buy it if the stack matches; otherwise buy the model cover. The Ooni large cover is cut for a 16 inch Ooni on the modular table, oven and table together. That is the configuration it fits perfectly. On a generic table it is oversized; for an oven alone it is the wrong shape.
Leaving an Ooni uncovered outside is the fastest way to a rusted burner. A cover is the one accessory that protects the purchase itself.
- Fits
- 16 in Ooni oven on modular table
- Material
- Weatherproof
- Price
- ~$120
What we like
- One piece over oven and table
- Cut to the chimney and legs
- Protects the burner from rust
Worth noting
- Expensive
- Only fits the Ooni table stack
Who should buy it: Koda 16 and Karu 16 owners on the Ooni modular table.
What we don't like: Price. Wrong shape for ovens on other tables or stored alone.
Bottom line: If your Koda 16 or Karu 16 lives outside on an Ooni modular table, this is the cover: one piece over oven and table, with the cutouts where the oven's feet and chimney sit. It is expensive for a cover. It is also the only one shaped to that exact stack. Owners on a different table or with the oven alone should look at the model-specific covers in our cover ranking.
04 · Buy: Karu 2 / Karu 12 Cover

Ooni Karu 2 and Karu 12 Protective Carry Cover
The only cover shaped to the Karu's chimney, and it doubles as a carry bag.
On the bench: Protective carry cover fitted to the Ooni Karu 2 and Karu 12, from Ooni's listing.
Cover and carry bag in one. The Karu carry cover fits the Karu 2 and Karu 12 with the chimney on, zips shut, and carries by a strap. It is the cover Karu owners actually use because it does the second job a fixed cover cannot: getting the oven somewhere.
At about $50 it is the cheapest fit-dictated item on this page and the easiest to justify.
- Fits
- Karu 2, Karu 12
- Type
- Cover + carry bag
- Price
- ~$50
What we like
- Cut around the chimney
- Doubles as a carry bag
- Cheapest fitted cover on the page
Worth noting
- Two models only
Who should buy it: Karu 2 and Karu 12 owners, especially those who move the oven.
What we don't like: Model-specific; nothing else fits it.
Bottom line: The Karu's chimney is why generic covers fail on it, and the official carry cover is cut around it. It seals the oven for weather, zips closed for transport, and has a strap for carrying the 26 pound oven to the car. For a Karu that travels to campsites and tailgates, it is the accessory that gets used most after the peel.
05 · Buy: The Brush

Ooni Wire Brush and Scraper
Stone-safe bristles and a scraper on a handle long enough to reach the back of a Koda 16; 4.9 stars.
On the bench: Wire brush with stone scraper from Ooni's listing; 4.9 stars on the live Amazon page on 2026-08-23.
The right brush, not just the branded one. The Ooni wire brush and scraper leads our brush ranking on bristle choice and reach. Stiff enough to lift carbon, soft enough to leave the stone intact, and long enough to work at the back of a Koda 16 while the oven is still warm.
Generic brushes cost $10 to $20 and our ranking covers the best of them. The Ooni costs more and its 4.9 star owner average is the highest on this page; it is one of the branded items that earns the premium.
- Type
- Wire brush + scraper
- Reach
- Full 16 in chamber
- Price
- ~$35
What we like
- 4.9 star owner average
- Stone-safe bristles
- Reaches the back of a Koda 16
Worth noting
- Generic brushes cost less
Who should buy it: Every Ooni owner. The stone is the oven.
What we don't like: Price over the generic brushes that also clean a stone.
Bottom line: The Ooni brush is the top pick in our brush ranking for a reason: the bristles clean a cordierite stone without gouging it, the scraper lifts burnt cheese, and the handle reaches the back of a 16 inch chamber without your hand crossing the flame. It is the accessory with the highest owner average on this page. Clean the stone after every session and it never needs replacing.
06 · Fine, but Replaceable

Ooni Grill Gloves
Good heat gloves that any 932°F-rated pair can replace for less.
On the bench: Heat- and fire-resistant gloves from Ooni's listing, ranked first in our brand-agnostic glove guide on purpose-built fit.
Where the premium stops earning. The Ooni grill gloves are heat- and fire-resistant and shaped for oven work. They are also gloves, and a glove's job is a number: the temperature it protects against. Our glove ranking has two 932°F pairs that do the same job.
- Type
- Heat- and fire-resistant gloves
- Price
- ~$35
What we like
- Purpose-built fit
- Matches the rest of the kit
Worth noting
- Generic 932°F pairs do the same job
- No published temperature rating
Who should buy it: Owners who want matching gear. Everyone else can buy on heat rating.
What we don't like: No headline heat rating on the listing; generics publish one.
Bottom line: Ooni's gloves are well made and we rank them first in our glove guide for fit. But gloves are generic physics. A pair of 932°F-rated RAPICCA or Grill Armor gloves protects the same hands for about the same money or less, and the Lodge leather gauntlets cover more forearm. Buy the Ooni pair if you want the matching set; buy any of the others if you do not.
07 · Replaceable

Ooni Digital Infrared Thermometer
Reads the stone accurately, like the $17 Etekcity that does the same thing.
On the bench: Ooni-branded infrared thermometer gun, live on Amazon at about $65 on 2026-08-23.
Same reading, four times the price. The Ooni infrared thermometer points at the stone and reports a surface temperature, which is the number that decides when to launch. Our thermometer ranking found that the $17 Etekcity and the $20 TempPro units read the same stone to within the margin the stone itself varies across its surface.
- Type
- Infrared thermometer gun
- Price
- ~$65
What we like
- Works
- Matches the kit
Worth noting
- A $17 unit reads the same stone
Who should buy it: Owners who want the matching set and do not mind the price.
What we don't like: The price, against generics that read identically.
Bottom line: An infrared thermometer is the most useful tool in pizza cooking, and the Ooni one works. So does the Etekcity Lasergrip 774 at about $17, which tops our thermometer ranking and reads to the same 1,000°F-plus range. The Ooni unit has a nicer housing and a matching logo. The stone does not know the difference. This is the one accessory on the page we would not pay the premium for.
08 · Buy If You Want the Matching Stand

Ooni Medium Modular Outdoor Table
Stainless, 31 by 22 inches, sized for a Koda or Karu; the best-built stand and the priciest.
On the bench: 31 x 22 x 35 inch stainless steel modular table from Ooni's listing, sized for a 12 or 16 inch Ooni oven.
The premium that buys a system. The Ooni medium modular table is stainless, 31 by 22 inches, 35 inches tall, and sized so a Koda 16 sits with peel space on one side. The large cover above fits this stack and only this stack. If you want oven, table, and cover to be one designed object, this is how.
- Size
- 31 x 22 x 35 in
- Material
- Stainless steel
- Fits
- 12 and 16 in Ooni ovens
- Price
- ~$275
What we like
- Best build in our table ranking
- Fits the Ooni large cover
- Modular with the large table
Worth noting
- About $275
- Generic carts hold the same oven
Who should buy it: Owners who want the integrated Ooni stand and plan to use the fitted cover.
What we don't like: Price. A generic cart does the structural job for a third of it.
Bottom line: The medium modular table is a stainless stand built to the footprint of an Ooni oven, with a shelf below and the option to bolt on the large version beside it. It is the best-built table in our ranking and the one the large cover is cut for. It is also about $275, and a $100 to $140 steel cart holds the same oven. Buy it for the integrated look and the cover fit; buy the cart if you just need a surface.

How we chose
Each accessory is judged on one question: does Ooni's oven geometry dictate the design, or is this generic physics with a logo? Fit-dictated items (peels sized to the door, covers shaped to the chimney, a brush with the right reach) earn the premium. Generic items (heat gloves, infrared thermometers) are compared against the best non-Ooni version in our accessory rankings. Prices and availability from the live Amazon listings, Creators-API-verified on 2026-08-23.
Questions, answered
What accessories do you need for an Ooni?
A launch peel, a turning peel, and an infrared thermometer are the three you cannot cook well without. Add a cover if the oven lives outside and a brush for the stone. Gloves are a safety item. Everything else is optional.
Does the Ooni come with a peel?
Most Ooni ovens ship with the stone but no peel; some bundles include one. Check the listing. If not, the 12 inch perforated peel is the first purchase.
Is there a cheaper alternative to the Ooni Koda 16 cover?
Not one we can recommend. The official covers are the only ones cut to the chimney and leg geometry, and a generic grill cover either traps moisture against the burner or does not seal. The large Ooni cover fits a Koda 16 on the modular table; for the oven alone, buy the model-specific Ooni cover from our cover ranking.
Do I need the Ooni infrared thermometer?
You need an infrared thermometer. It does not need to be Ooni's. A $17 Etekcity Lasergrip 774 reads the stone to the same accuracy and tops our thermometer ranking.
Is the Ooni modular table worth it?
If you want the oven, table, and fitted cover as one system, yes; it is the best-built stand we rank. If you only need a sturdy surface, a $100 to $140 steel cart holds the same oven and rolls.
