The four-figure shelf, ranked with live-verified prices. Our top pick is the Ooni Koda 2 Max at $1,298.94, the most oven per dollar above the $1,000 line, and the field runs from the $1,154.00 KoolMore to the $5,472.50 Fontana Forni Napoli. We explain exactly what each step up buys you over a $500 oven: floor area, dual zones, refractory mass, and recovery at party volume.

Tap a pick → check today's priceThe best pizza oven over $1,000 is the Ooni Koda 2 Max at $1,298.94: a ~950°F dual-zone gas oven with a 20 inch floor that bakes two pizzas at once, verified in stock on Amazon on July 22, 2026. Above it sit the $1,399.00 Alfa One, the $1,575.00 wood-fired Authentic Pizza Ovens Maximus, the $3,199.00 Alfa Moderno 2 Pizze, and the $5,472.50 Fontana Forni Napoli, the most expensive oven we track anywhere.
Some context from our live price data, because the four-figure shelf only makes sense against the whole market. Per our Pizza Oven Price Index, the average pizza oven costs $544.24 and the median just $248.95; the gas tier averages $768.27 and multi-fuel $941.24, and the spread from the cheapest oven to the ceiling on this page is 110x. So everything here costs two to twenty times the typical oven. That is not automatically foolish: past $1,000 you stop paying for peak temperature, which a $150 oven can technically reach, and start paying for floor area, thermal mass, evenness, and the recovery to feed a crowd without stalling. This guide is about whether those things are worth it for you, and which oven delivers them best.
Disclosures, plainly: no brand paid for a spot, nobody placed a pick, and no manufacturer saw this before publication. Links go to Amazon; as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you, and that never moves a ranking. Every price on this page was pulled live from Amazon's Creators API on July 22, 2026 and every oven shown was in stock with a live price on that date; two four-figure ovens we wanted to include, the Mont Alpi MAPZ-SS and the Empava 46 inch, were out of stock or marked unavailable on the pull date and are excluded rather than guessed at.
The short version
- Best overall over $1,000 is the Ooni Koda 2 Max ($1,298.94): a ~950°F dual-zone 20 inch floor that bakes two pies at once, the most practical four-figure oven.
- The luxury ceiling is real and in stock: the Alfa Moderno 2 Pizze at $3,199.00 and the Fontana Forni Napoli at $5,472.50 (gas and wood, cart and cover included) both verified live on July 22, 2026.
- What four figures buys is not heat, a $150 oven can hit Neapolitan temperature, it is floor area, dual-zone control, refractory mass, and recovery at party volume.
- The whole shelf is an outlier by the data: the market average is $544.24 and the median $248.95 per our July 2026 price index, so buy up only if you host at scale or want a permanent centerpiece.
- The $999.99 Gozney Arc XL is the gateway: one cent under four figures, and for many buyers the smarter stop before the big step up.

01 · Best Overall Over $1,000
Our Pick
Ooni Koda 2 Max
A ~950°F dual-zone 20 inch floor that bakes two pies at once, the most practical four-figure oven.
On the bench: House-verified at ~950°F across a 20 inch floor with dual independently controlled heat zones; a confirmed 60-Second-Pizza Club member with the thermal mass to run a party without stalling. Live Amazon price $1,298.94, in stock July 22, 2026.
If you are stepping over the $1,000 line for a reason, this is usually the reason. The Koda 2 Max is Ooni's biggest gas oven: a ~950°F floor, full Neapolitan territory, spread across 20 inches of cooking surface, enough for two 12 inch pies at once or one enormous round. Amazon's listing markets it as a 24 inch oven; the usable cooking floor in our dataset is 20 inches, which is still the largest of any portable-class gas oven we cover. On July 22, 2026 it was in stock at $1,298.94.
The honest costs: 95 lb means a permanent home, and $1,298.94 is more than double a 16 inch Koda 16. But against this page's field, the Max is the value pick, you give up the Italian refractory romance of the Alfa and Fontana and get back two thousand dollars and change. For the full head-to-head against its smaller sibling, see our Koda 2 Pro vs Koda 2 Max comparison; the Pro at $798.95 is the answer if this is more oven than you host for.
- Fuel
- Gas (propane, regulator and hose included per listing)
- Peak temp
- ~950°F floor (house-verified)
- Cooking floor
- 20 in (two pizzas at once)
- Weight
- 95 lb
- Live price (7/22/26)
- $1,298.94
What we like
- 20 inch floor bakes two pizzas side by side
- Dual independent heat zones, unique below $2,000 on this page
- Full ~950°F Neapolitan heat with strong gas recovery
- The cheapest oven here that changes what a pizza night can be
Worth noting
- 95 lb, permanent footprint
- More than double the price of a 16 inch Koda 16
- Overkill for households that do not entertain
Who should buy it: Buy the Koda 2 Max if you host at scale and want the most usable capability per dollar above $1,000: two pies at once, dual-zone control, and gas recovery that keeps a party fed. It is the four-figure oven for people buying performance rather than a centerpiece.
What we don't like: At 95 lb it is a permanent fixture, and the sticker is more than double a full-size 16 inch gas oven that already makes the same quality of individual pizza. If you do not regularly cook for a crowd, the capacity you are paying for will sit unused.
Bottom line: The Koda 2 Max is the four-figure oven that earns its price with capability you can actually use. The 20 inch floor bakes two pizzas side by side, the two heat zones run independently so one half can blast Neapolitan heat while the other bakes a thicker style, and gas recovery keeps a line of pies moving. At $1,298.94 it costs a third of the Alfa Moderno and a quarter of the Fontana Napoli while doing the job most four-figure buyers are actually shopping for: feeding a crowd, fast, evenly.
02 · Cheapest Four-Figure Big Chamber

KoolMore 32 in Gas and Wood Oven
A 32 inch stainless gas-and-wood chamber at the lowest live price on the four-figure shelf.
On the bench: A 32 inch outdoor propane and wood fired chamber in stainless steel per its own listing, the largest stated footprint on this page at the lowest four-figure price: $1,154.00 live, in stock July 22, 2026.
The KoolMore answers a simple question: what is the cheapest way to a genuinely big outdoor chamber? The KoolMore 32 in runs propane or wood per its listing, in a stainless steel body with the largest stated footprint on this page. At $1,154.00 live on July 22, 2026, it sits $145 under the Koda 2 Max and thousands under the Italian builds.
Our price index files it among the handful of ovens that drag the multi-fuel average up to $941.24, and that is the right frame: this is a lot of chamber for the money rather than a refined instrument. Expect to spend time learning its fire management, and do not expect Alfa-grade finish. For a big family that wants gas on weeknights and wood smoke on weekends without writing a $3,000 check, it earns its slot.
- Fuel
- Gas and wood (per listing)
- Stated size
- 32 in chamber (per listing)
- Body
- Stainless steel
- Live price (7/22/26)
- $1,154.00
What we like
- Largest stated chamber on this page
- Propane and wood in one oven
- Lowest live price on the four-figure shelf
Worth noting
- No premium-brand track record
- Big chambers cost fuel and preheat time
- Finish and refinement below the Italian builds
Who should buy it: Buy the KoolMore if chamber size and dual fuel matter more to you than brand pedigree, and you want to clear the $1,000 line by the smallest possible margin.
What we don't like: It lacks the track record and finish of the premium brands on this page, and big chambers demand more fuel and more preheat patience than compact ovens.
Bottom line: The KoolMore is the entry ticket to the big-chamber class. Its listing states a 32 inch propane-and-wood-fired chamber in stainless steel, and at a live $1,154.00 it undercuts everything else on this shelf. You give up the brand pedigree and the refined fit of the Italians, but if the goal is a large multi-fuel chamber for the least money over $1,000, this is that oven.
03 · Best Compact Italian

Alfa One
Alfa's single-pizza compact oven: the Italian build at its lowest Amazon entry point.
On the bench: The compact one-pizza-at-a-time oven from Alfa, the Italian maker behind our house-verified ~950°F Moderno 2 Pizze; live Amazon price $1,399.00, in stock (limited quantity) on July 22, 2026.
For a lot of buyers the appeal of this page is one word, Italy, and the Alfa One is its cheapest live expression on Amazon. The Alfa One is the compact model in Alfa's range, named for its capacity, one pizza at a time, and sold in some markets under the Nano name. At $1,399.00 verified live on July 22, 2026 (listed with limited stock), it undercuts its big sibling, the two-pizza Moderno 2 Pizze at $3,199.00, by $1,800.
The honest caveat is information: the Amazon listing publishes almost nothing beyond the name, so our assessment leans on Alfa's brand record, which our own testing supports at the Moderno level, rather than listing specs. We take the full measure of the brand and this model in our Alfa One review, including the models Alfa does not sell on Amazon at all. If you want the Italian build and cook for one or two people rather than a party, this is the sensible Alfa.
- Brand
- Alfa (Italy)
- Capacity
- One pizza at a time (the model's namesake)
- Availability
- In stock, limited quantity (7/22/26)
- Live price (7/22/26)
- $1,399.00
What we like
- Cheapest live Alfa on Amazon at our check
- Compact, single-household capacity
- The Italian build story at a fraction of the flagship price
Worth noting
- Listing publishes minimal specs
- Limited stock at our verification
- Wrong capacity for crowds
Who should buy it: Buy the Alfa One if Italian construction is the point but $3,199.00 is not: it is the compact, single-pie expression of the same brand for less than half the flagship price.
What we don't like: The Amazon listing is thin on published specs, stock was scarce at our check, and one pizza at a time is the wrong capacity for entertainers, exactly the people most four-figure ovens court.
Bottom line: The Alfa One is the way into Italian construction without the Moderno's $3,199.00 sticker. It is Alfa's compact model, built for one pizza at a time, and at $1,399.00 it delivers the brand's build quality at less than half the flagship's price. Stock ran scarce at our check, so treat the price as the day's number.
04 · Best Wood-Fired Over $1,000

Authentic Pizza Ovens Maximus
A handmade Portuguese wood-fired oven with peel, thermometer, and extras included per the listing.
On the bench: Handmade in Portugal per its own listing, a portable true wood-fired oven that ships with a stainless chimney, pizza peel, thermometer, extra floor tile, and baking dish included; $1,575.00 live, in stock July 22, 2026.
Everything else on this page burns gas at least part of the time; the Maximus commits. The Authentic Pizza Ovens Maximus is a handmade Portuguese wood-fired oven, per its own listing, and it arrives closer to complete than anything here: the listing includes a stainless steel chimney, a pizza peel, a thermometer, an extra floor tile, and a baking dish in the box. At $1,575.00 live on July 22, 2026, it sits squarely between the Koda 2 Max and the Omcan.
Wood-only is a lifestyle position: you are signing up for fire building, temperature management by feel and thermometer, and ash. In exchange you get the char and smoke no burner reproduces and a hand-built object rather than a product. Our price index puts the wood-fired tier's average at $401.26, which makes the Maximus the definitive top of that class, nearly four times the tier average, and the reason is the handmade construction, not a spec sheet.
- Fuel
- Wood
- Origin
- Handmade in Portugal (per listing)
- Included
- Chimney, peel, thermometer, extra floor tile, baking dish (per listing)
- Live price (7/22/26)
- $1,575.00
What we like
- True wood-fired character, the only wood-only pick here
- Handmade construction
- Unusually complete included accessory kit
Worth noting
- No gas option for low-effort nights
- Fire management and ash every cook
- Nearly 4x the wood-tier average price
Who should buy it: Buy the Maximus if wood fire is non-negotiable and you want handmade old-world construction with a genuinely complete included kit, at half the cost of the Fontana flagship.
What we don't like: Wood-only means real work every session, and there is no gas fallback for a weeknight. Portable is relative at this class of masonry-style build.
Bottom line: The Maximus is the only true wood-only oven on this shelf, and the listing's included-kit is unusually generous: chimney, peel, thermometer, an extra floor tile, and a baking dish. Handmade in Portugal, it is the pick for buyers who consider live fire the entire point and want old-world construction without stepping up to the Fontana's price.
05 · Best Commercial Crossover

Omcan 11387 Conveyor Oven
A countertop conveyor from a foodservice brand: throughput, not Neapolitan char.
On the bench: A commercial countertop conveyor oven from established foodservice supplier Omcan: a belt carries pies through a heated tunnel for hands-free consistency. Conveyor electrics run far below Neapolitan floor heat by design. $1,700.50 live, in stock July 22, 2026.
Read this pick as commercial equipment, because that is what it is. The Omcan 11387 is a countertop conveyor oven from a foodservice brand: set the belt speed, feed pies in one side, take them off the other. For a snack bar, cafe, or concession line, that consistency without a skilled operator is worth more than peak temperature, and at $1,700.50 live it is one of the cheaper routes into conveyor baking anywhere.
For a home buyer, this is almost certainly the wrong oven: conveyor electrics run far below the ~900°F a Neapolitan needs, and the joy of live-fire baking is exactly what a conveyor removes. If commercial countertop equipment is what you are actually shopping for, our full commercial countertop pizza oven guide ranks the Omcan against the Waring, Crosson, VEVOR, and Wisco units it really competes with.
- Type
- Commercial countertop conveyor (electric)
- Brand
- Omcan (foodservice supplier)
- Best context
- Shops, cafes, concessions
- Live price (7/22/26)
- $1,700.50
What we like
- Hands-free, repeatable output via belt speed
- Foodservice-brand equipment at a countertop footprint
- One of the cheaper conveyor entry points
Worth noting
- Nowhere near Neapolitan floor heat, by design
- Industrial experience, zero live-fire romance
- Wrong pick for nearly all home buyers
Who should buy it: Buy the Omcan if you run a shop, cafe, or concession line and need consistent hands-free output; it is a business tool that happens to share a price bracket with the enthusiast ovens here.
What we don't like: It is the wrong product for home Neapolitan ambitions: conveyor heat is far below live-fire territory, and the experience is deliberately industrial.
Bottom line: The Omcan is on this page for a different buyer: the shop, cafe, or concession operation searching for a four-figure oven that pays for itself. A conveyor belt carries pizzas through a heated tunnel, so output is consistent and hands-free, which is the entire commercial argument. It is not a Neapolitan machine and does not pretend to be.
06 · Best Luxury Showpiece

Alfa Moderno 2 Pizze
Italian-made, two pizzas at once, a refractory floor that behaves like a brick oven.
On the bench: House-verified at ~950°F over a true refractory-brick floor; bakes two pizzas at once with the heat retention and near-instant recovery 220 lb of Italian build delivers. $3,199.00 live, in stock (limited quantity) July 22, 2026.
This is what the top of the consumer market actually buys. The Alfa Moderno 2 Pizze is built in Italy with a true refractory-brick cooking floor, the same material as a permanent pizzeria oven, and that floor is the entire experience: it banks a huge reserve of heat, holds our verified ~950°F with total stability, and shrugs off cold dough in a way steel decks cannot. Two pizzas bake at once. At 220 lb, it is furniture; you choose its home once.
Against the rest of this page: the Koda 2 Max matches the two-pie capacity for $1,900 less but with steel-deck thermals and none of the presence; the Fontana Napoli above it adds wood fire and another $2,273. The Moderno is the balance point of the luxury tier: full showpiece, still (barely) an impulse below the truly rarefied air.
- Fuel
- Gas (propane)
- Peak temp
- ~950°F (house-verified)
- Capacity
- Two pizzas at once
- Weight
- 220 lb
- Live price (7/22/26)
- $3,199.00
What we like
- True refractory floor with pizzeria-grade heat retention
- Two pizzas at once at a verified ~950°F
- Italian-made heirloom build
Worth noting
- Gas-only at a price where wood feels earned
- 220 lb, permanent once sited
- Limited stock at our check
Who should buy it: Buy the Moderno 2 Pizze if you want an heirloom centerpiece with pizzeria thermal behavior, you feed tables rather than individuals, and the patio has a permanent spot waiting. It is the strongest pure-cooking case in the luxury tier.
What we don't like: It is gas-only despite the brick-oven soul, 220 lb is truly permanent, and stock showed scarce at our check. At this price the Fontana's dual fuel will tempt maximalists.
Bottom line: The Moderno 2 Pizze is the oven you site once and build a patio around. Its refractory floor stores heat like a permanent brick oven, so the deck barely dips when dough hits it and recovers almost instantly for the next pair, and it bakes two pizzas at a time at a house-verified ~950°F. At $3,199.00 it is a considered luxury purchase, and unlike most objects at this price, it is also a genuinely superior cooking instrument.
07 · The No-Compromise Flagship

Fontana Forni Napoli
The most expensive oven we track: Italian gas-and-wood, two pies at 900°F, cart and cover included.
On the bench: Per its own listing: a luxury Italian outdoor oven that runs gas and wood, cooks two pizzas at 900 degrees, and includes its cart and cover. The ceiling of our entire 53-oven price index at $5,472.50, verified in stock July 22, 2026.
Every market has a ceiling, and in our July 2026 price index this is it. The Fontana Forni Napoli was verified in stock at $5,472.50 on July 22, 2026, the highest live price of the 53 ovens we track. Its listing makes the case plainly: a luxury Italian outdoor oven for residential use that fires on gas and wood, cooks two pizzas at 900 degrees, and ships with its cart and cover included.
We give the Napoli a full standalone treatment, heritage, thermals, and whether anyone should actually spend this, in our Fontana Forni Napoli review. The short version: nobody needs it, the median oven costs $248.95, and if you want it and can site 900 degrees of Italian steel and stone permanently, nothing else we track outranks it.
- Fuel
- Gas and wood (per listing)
- Stated temp
- 900 degrees, two pizzas (per listing)
- Included
- Cart and cover (per listing)
- Live price (7/22/26)
- $5,472.50
What we like
- Dual fuel at the top of the luxury tier
- Two-pizza capacity at a listing-stated 900 degrees
- Cart and cover included, rare at any price
- Heritage Italian build, the index ceiling
Worth noting
- $5,472.50, 110x the cheapest oven we track
- Scarce stock
- Purely aspirational for most buyers
Who should buy it: Buy the Napoli if you want the no-compromise flagship: both fuels, two-pie capacity, heritage Italian construction, and the accessories included, and the price is a decision you have already made peace with.
What we don't like: It costs ten times the market average we measure, stock is scarce, and at this price the buying decision is about identity as much as pizza. Everyone else should read this page top-down, not bottom-up.
Bottom line: The Napoli is the ceiling of the entire market we track, 110x the cheapest oven in our index, and it is the one oven on this page that concedes nothing: gas for weeknights, wood for weekends, two pizzas at a listing-stated 900 degrees, with the cart and cover included rather than sold separately. It is a considered purchase measured in thousands, and for the buyer who wants the definitive backyard oven, this is that object.
08 · The $999.99 Gateway

Gozney Arc XL
One cent under four figures: a ~950°F rolling-flame 16 inch oven that makes the step up optional.
On the bench: House-verified at ~950°F across a 16 inch deck, per its listing heats up to 950F, with the rolling flame and heavy insulated build that let it feed a crowd; $999.99 live, in stock July 22, 2026.
Before you cross the line, meet the reason you might not need to. The Gozney Arc XL holds a house-verified ~950°F across a full 16 inch deck, its listing states the same 950F figure, and its heavy insulated chamber recovers strongly enough to run a party line. At a live $999.99 it is priced one cent below everything else on this page.
The honest comparison: stepping from the Arc XL to the Koda 2 Max costs $298.95 and buys simultaneous two-pie capacity plus dual zones; stepping to the Alfa Moderno costs $2,199.01 and buys refractory mass and the showpiece factor. If neither of those sentences quickened your pulse, buy the Arc XL and pocket the difference. Our overall best pizza ovens ranking covers it in full alongside the sub-$1,000 field.

What we like
- Verified ~950°F and crowd-grade recovery
- Full 16 inch deck with the glass-door experience
- Effectively the four-figure experience for $999.99
Worth noting
- One pizza at a time
- No dual-zone control
- Steel-deck thermals, not refractory
Who should buy it: Buy the Arc XL if you came to this page unsure: it delivers the four-figure experience, big deck, big heat, big recovery, for one cent under the line, and makes everything above it a want rather than a need.
What we don't like: One pie at a time, no dual zones, and no refractory mass: the three things the true four-figure shelf holds over it.
Bottom line: The Arc XL is on this page as the control group: at $999.99, one cent under the line, it delivers a verified ~950°F, a 16 inch deck, and crowd-worthy recovery. It cannot bake two pies at once and it is not Italian refractory, and those are the only two arguments left for spending more. For a lot of readers this is where the shopping should stop.

How we chose
Verification first: every oven on this page was checked live against Amazon's Creators API on July 22, 2026 for price, availability, and its real listing image. Anything not in stock with a live price on that date was cut, which is why the Mont Alpi MAPZ-SS (out of stock) and the Empava 46 inch (marked unavailable) do not appear despite being four-figure ovens we track. We do not list an oven you cannot actually buy at the price we print.
Ranking second: we judge the shelf on what a four-figure price is supposed to buy. Peak floor heat is table stakes here, everything on this page except the commercial conveyor is built to Neapolitan-class temperature, so the ranking turns on floor area and capacity, evenness across that floor, thermal mass and heat recovery at volume, build quality and expected lifespan, and honest value against the $500 tier below it. Where we cite a temperature it is our house-verified figure or the manufacturer's stated number, labeled as such; where a listing states a spec (size, included accessories, wattage) we take it from the listing itself and never guess.
Market context comes from our own dataset: the Pizza Oven Price Index, pulled live the same week, which puts the market average at $544.24, the median at $248.95, the gas tier at $768.27, and multi-fuel at $941.24. Those numbers are how we keep a $3,000 verdict honest.
Questions, answered
What is the best pizza oven over $1,000?
Our pick is the Ooni Koda 2 Max at a live $1,298.94 (verified in stock July 22, 2026): a ~950°F dual-zone oven whose 20 inch floor bakes two pizzas at once. The luxury tier above it is the Alfa Moderno 2 Pizze at $3,199.00 and the Fontana Forni Napoli at $5,472.50.
What does a $1,000-plus pizza oven buy that a $500 oven does not?
Not more heat, budget ovens already reach Neapolitan-class temperature. Four figures buys floor area (two pizzas at once), dual-zone burner control, refractory thermal mass that recovers instantly between pies, dual gas-and-wood fuel, and permanent showpiece build quality. If none of those matter to how you cook, the $498 to $999 tier bakes the same individual pizza.
What is the most expensive pizza oven on Amazon?
Of the 53 in-stock ovens we track in our live price index, the ceiling is the Fontana Forni Napoli at $5,472.50, verified in stock on July 22, 2026. It is an Italian gas-and-wood oven that cooks two pizzas at a listing-stated 900 degrees and includes its cart and cover; the gap to the cheapest oven we track is 110x.
Is there a 1000 degree pizza oven?
Effectively yes. Most premium gas ovens state peaks around 950°F (the Gozney Arc XL's listing says heats up to 950F), the Fontana Forni Napoli's listing states 900 degree two-pizza cooking, and at the budget end the BIG HORN 12 inch multi-fuel oven's own listing rates it up to 1110°F. For reference, a true Neapolitan needs roughly 900°F at the floor; nothing about pizza requires a full 1000.
Is a $3,000 pizza oven like the Alfa Moderno actually better than an Ooni?
At peak temperature, no, both reach roughly 950°F. The Alfa's refractory-brick floor is genuinely better at holding heat and recovering instantly between pies, it bakes two at once, and it is built as permanent Italian furniture. Whether that is worth the extra $1,900 over a Koda 2 Max depends entirely on whether you host at volume and want the showpiece; the pizza itself can be excellent from either.
Are any premium pizza ovens out of stock right now?
